2. The Natchez Trace Parkway
Nature lovers, and anyone who can admire some natural beauty, alike are sure to capture some stunning images along the Natchez Trace Parkway. The parkway, which is headquartered in Tupelo, allows you to really get off the beaten path with every bend of the road.
3. The historic Tupelo Hardware Co.
Tupelo Hardware Co. isn’t just a store that’s been in the Booth family for four generations. The shop is where Elvis Presley bought his very first guitar! A young Elvis went in with his mother in hopes of getting a bicycle for his birthday, but walked out with a guitar instead. Who knows what the world would be like if he’d gotten the bicycle!
Fairpark is home to both a statue of Elvis, commemorating when he played a homecoming concert at the fairgrounds in Tupelo, as well as a statue of Chief Piomingo of the Chickasaw tribe. Fans from all over the world flock to Fairpark to have their picture taken holding Elvis’ outstretched hand.
5. The Tupelo Automobile Museum
Where else in Mississippi can you have your picture taken standing next to a classic Delorean, a car Elvis himself purchased, and some of the coolest and strangest classic cars you didn’t even know existed? Short answer, nowhere but the Tupelo Automobile Museum! The museum is even more impressive once you realize that is all one man’s private collection.
6. The Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo
The Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo is one of the most unique places in the city and the state. Alligators? Check. Tigers? Check. Giraffes? Check. Buffalo? Check the name.
Bonus: Literally any restaurant or food truck in town
Tupelo really, really loves great food and has a bustling culinary scene to feed that hunger. The food surprises anyone who comes to visit and keeps the locals happy and well fed all year round. Whether it’s farm-to-table feasts you’re looking for or just a nice greasy burger, you’ll find it in Tupelo and have a hard time possessing enough willpower to snap a picture before diving straight in.
