It’s hard to believe we’re already over a month into 2018, with January in the rearview mirror. As always, here’s ten of our favorite #MyTupelo photos taken in January by folks all over Tupelo. The snow day last month really made for some awesome pictures!
Blake McCollum was able to get his drone out in Tupelo during the snow day to capture this really cool shot over the old courthouse in downtown Tupelo. The snow definitely provided a unique look above the town.
Anne and her pup had a great snow day!
U & Me Asian Grocery on North Gloster recently added ramen and sushi to their menus, exciting a lot of foodies around town who already loved the authentic and delicious dishes coming out of their kitchen. One way to warm up on a cold January day? RAMEN.
Driven, a new film from director Glenn Payne that stars Casey Dillard, who co-wrote the movie, and Supernatural’s Richard Speight Jr., was shot on location in Tupelo over many nights in January. We loved this picture from the movie crew featuring the set and director in the glow of the 1-hour cleaners neon sign. You can read more about the film from the Daily Journal here!
Raw Furniture Co., established in 2015 on North Gloster, has some of the finest handmade furniture and home goods in town. That’s Michael, a co-owner, pictured up above chiseling away on a cedar mantle piece. If you aren’t in the market for furniture you should still stop by and smell some of Andrea’s (Michael’s wife and the other co-owner) home-made soy candles.
Kathy enjoyed taking in the view of the fountain at Veteran’s Park on one of the warmer days of January. There’s a whole lot more to see at Veteran’s Park now that the Vietnam Replica Wall has been completed.
One of the best experiences you can have as an Elvis fan is eating a Johnnie Burger while sitting at the Elvis Booth at Johnnie’s Drive-In. A Tupelo favorite of the King himself, sit in the booth Elvis sat in and eat what he ate.
Anthony Teague, an excellent photographer in northeast Mississippi, did it once again when he got this shot during the rodeo at the BancorpSouth Arena. You can check out a full listing of events at the arena here.
With touring bands traveling to play in Tupelo constantly, many will stop at the Elvis Presley Birthplace to see where the King of Rock ‘n Roll got his start. Here’s the band Steady Flow in front of the birth home.
Cedric (@itscedfreeman) set his exposure a little longer than usual to capture the lights of cars passing through downtown on the last night of January and we just loved how this photo turned out. Check out everything the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association has going on in this beautiful, historic downtown here.
