October 14 is Piominko Day in Tupelo. Join the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation in honoring this historically significant leader. This free, family-oriented event will be held at Fair Park, in front of City Hall in downtown Tupelo.
Cultural demonstrations begin at 10 a.m. and include a Chickasaw dance troupe from Oklahoma, games, tools and weapons displays, and corn husk doll making. Food trucks plan to be on site. At noon a wreath-laying ceremony at Piominko's statue honors his legacy. This project is partially funded by a grant through Visit Mississippi.
