Chef Sam Malhotra sought to fill a void in Tupelo, which is exactly why he helped open Namaste Indian Cuisine in May 2025, bringing new flavors to the All-America City. Located at 3061 Tupelo Commons Drive, Chef Sam serves traditional Indian recipes, cooked just like back home.


The space, which was originally Crossroads Rib Shack, was completely transformed from the inside out. The space features elegant exterior walls, modern lighting, and beautifully designed archways that create a captivating atmosphere and transport visitors to the grandeur and timeless beauty of India’s magnificent palaces. The menu focuses on bringing people together through bold spices, traditional recipes, and the warmth of Indian hospitality.


Chef Sam's culinary journey began with his family. This warm, loving atmosphere built the foundation of his cooking approach and filters into the restaurant’s atmosphere. On what has been the most surprising thing about opening a restaurant in Tupelo? People here don't know about Indian food; we know that, and we want to bring that culture here that Tupelo is missing right now. So far, we have succeeded with that.

A Conversation with Chef Sam

WHAT'S A DISH YOU'VE NEVER MADE THAT YOU WANT TO TRY?

I'm in Mississippi, so I'd like to make a fusion of dishes Mississippians love and my Indian food. I am planning to do that.

WHAT'S A MUST-TRY MEAL HERE?

We have a lot of meals here, but people love the butter chicken and tikka masala. We do have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options as well.

WHAT'S ONE INGREDIENT YOU COULDN'T RUN YOUR KITCHEN WITHOUT?

My spices and one more thing...love

WHERE DO YOU EAT WHEN YOU EAT OUT IN TUPELO?

I like to eat a lot of local food here.

WHAT'S ONE UNIQUE THING ABOUT THE TUPELO FOODIE SCENE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD COME HERE TO EXPERIENCE?

I think it's the community; Tupelo has a strong local energy here, and people generally appreciate good food and hospitality.
