Free Things to do in Tupelo
7 Free ways to spend the day in Tupelo
Tupelo is proof that the best travel experiences don't always come with a price tag. Between the trails, the parks, the history, and the live music, some of the best things to do here are completely free of charge. Here are seven free ways to spend a day in Tupelo.
Feed the Ducks at Ballard Park
Ballard Park is home to a pond that's perfect for a slow afternoon. Bring a bag of birdseed or defrosted frozen peas and find a spot along the water. The park also has a 1.5-mile walking loop, a skate park, an all-inclusive playground, and plenty of green space, so you can make a day of it.
Follow the Elvis Guitar Trail
Downtown Tupelo is dotted with hand-painted guitars along its walkways. The trail is free, self-guided, and easy to walk. Click here to view the map or follow Main Street and see how many you can spot.
Visit the Oren Dunn City Museum
This museum, housed in a converted dairy barn, tells Tupelo's history, covering the railroads, the 1936 tornado, and even Chickasaw history. Admission is free, and the exhibits give you a full picture of how the city came to be.
Catch Free Live Music
Several Tupelo venues offer free live music throughout the week. Blue Canoe, The Gin, and other spots regularly host local and regional acts without a cover charge. Check out our events page for what's playing during your visit.
