Inside Tupelo Sports: The EndZone Club
Highlighting local sports leaders and their impact on the community
OVERVIEW
The crack of a bat, the pop of a glove, the low hum of a coach offering instruction. These are the sounds of The EndZone Club at work. What began as an annual back-to-school drive has evolved into a full-fledged outreach organization. Founded by Anthony Mitchell, this nonprofit organization uses football camps, baseball clinics, and basketball programs to teach young people about character, leadership, and community. Every camp, clinic, and outreach project is designed to help young people discover their strengths and discover their possibilities beyond the playing field. The mission is simple: to move children from potential to purpose.
The Mission
"I like to believe that we all have potential...If you're willing to put in the hard work and learn your craft, my job is to help you to discover that level of potential and equip you with the tools you need to succeed," Mitchell states. For Mitchell, this mission is personal. Sports taught him discipline and teamwork growing up, and he wanted to be the person in a kid's corner who could offer the same. Through The EndZone Club, children learn how to communicate, handle adversity, and show up for their peers. On what's the most rewarding part of running this organization? "Turning on the television on Saturday mornings and seeing kids who have come through our camps succeeding at the next level, or creating their own ways to give back to the community, it excites me to see that we're meeting the mark."
Tupelo's Next Generation of Athletes
Organizations like The EndZone Club prove Tupelo's commitment to investing in the next generation of athletes, the ones who will play at the next level, and the ones who will grow up to be coaches, mentors, and community leaders themselves.
"Here in Tupelo, we've got a lot of great athletes and some of the best sports complexes...Tupelo Parks and Rec does a phenomenal job here. These factors combined with the people first mentality of the community and the thriving food and entertainment scene have made Tupelo as excellent home base for the work that we do," Mitchell says. The EndZone Club's next event, the Fall Festival Baseball Camp will be held October 31, 2026 at Theron Nichols Park. This free camp is open to young athletes ages 8–17 and is designed to develop baseball skills, build confidence, and inspire the next generation through sports and mentorship.
