October 12 is Piominko Day in Tupelo. Join the Chickasaw Inkana Foundation in honoring this historically significant Chickasaw leader. This free, family-oriented event will be held at Fairpark, in front of City Hall in downtown Tupelo.
Cultural demonstrations begin at 10:00 a.m. and include a Chickasaw dance troupe from Oklahoma, games and interactive demonstrations. At noon a wreath-laying ceremony at Piominko's statue honors his legacy. This project is partially funded by a grant through the Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area.
